Educomp's new portal Mathguru.com will change the way School students learn Math
Leading e-Learning solutions provider, Educomp Solutions Ltd today launched an exciting
new initiative in online learning - Mathguru.com, an innovative 24x7 math-help program
designed to help students solve every single math problem as per their curriculum,
text books or syllabus on an anytime anywhere basis.
Mathguru aims to make math fun and easy for millions of students across schools
in India who find the subject difficult and dull. School examinations results over
the years indicate that one of the main reason for lower aggregates for most students
have been poor scores in Math. The pass percentage for Math in class X boards are
on average among the lowest among all subjects, clearly establishing the need for
a better, more effective reinforcing methodology for a subject such as Math.
Mathguru represents a fundamental change in math tutorial practice. It shifts the
learning process from a passive instructive experience to one that is explorative
and available on demand. It is an innovative math-help program for the students
from class VI to XII, following the NCERT math curriculum in the country. With step-by-step
solutions explained for all math problems from NCERT school textbooks, Mathguru
will provide assistance to students such as practicing problems, understanding the
underlying key concepts, completing homework etc. With proper detailed explanation,
Mathguru will help students to understand the fundamental concepts rather than just
providing solutions to the Questions. The student can replay the solutions any number
of times and can select the specific questions and check out the solutions.
Speaking at the launch and elaborating on Educomp’s reason for developing Mathguru,
Shantanu Prakash, Managing Director, Educomp Solutions Ltd, said, "High student-teacher
ratio, limited problem-solving at school and even more limited homework assistance
from parents at home are among the chief reasons that motivated us to develop Mathguru".
He further added, "Students today need technology to compliment their mainstream
learning. They love to experiment with newer forms of technology that make learning
interesting and playful and with Internet, it can be made available on demand and
that too at an extremely low-cost ". Educomp's Mathguru is a first-of-its-kind program
for students in such a scenario. Mathguru provides assistance to students when they
need it the most- practicing problems, understanding the underlying key concepts,
completing homework etc.
Private tutoring is today an estimated Rs. 7000 crore market. Math tutorial constitutes
over one third of this fast growing market. Interestingly, a large percentage of
students who opt for Math tutorial merely need more practice and timely assistance.
Rather than go in for expensive tutorials, Mathguru will offer them the option of
anytime, anywhere learning at a fraction of the cost.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Abhinav Dhar, Senior Vice President, Educomp Solutions
Ltd, said, "Mathguru is all about independent learning. This website is designed
to help students complete their math homework, practice and revise anytime, by a
click on the mouse. Mathguru's method of explaining the solutions in a bright, colorful
and step-by-step procedure is vital in creating interest in the subject. This can
obviate, to a large extent, the need for resorting to private tutions for a child."
"Besides being a source of help to a student in understanding math at his/her own
pace, Mathguru will also help those students who are weak in math and are hesitant
in asking questions in the classroom" he added.
Another high point of Mathguru is the dynamic illustrations used to solve math problems.
The Math experts use a virtual notebook and pen to explain the solution in their
own voices.
With the launch of Mathguru.com, mathematics teachers from top schools in the country
will now be available to all at a click of mouse.
