NEW DELHI: Leading e-learning solution provider Educomp Solutions Ltd on Wednesday
launched a new initiative in online learning, Mathguru.com, an innovative mathematics
programme designed to help students solve every single problem as per their curriculum,
textbooks or syllabus anytime and anywhere.
Mathguru aims to make maths fun and easy for millions of students across schools
in the country who find the subject difficult and dull.
School examinations results over the years indicate that one of the main reasons
for lower aggregates for most students has been poor scores in maths.
The pass percentage for maths in the Class X Board examinations is on an average
the lowest among all subjects, clearly establishing the need for a better, more
effective reinforcing methodology for a subject like maths.
Speaking at the launch, Educomp Solutions Managing Director Shantanu Prakash said:
"High student-teacher ratio, limited problem solving at school and even more limited
homework assistance from parents are among the chief reasons that motivated us to
develop Mathguru. Students today need technology to compliment their mainstream
learning. They love to experiment with newer forms of technology that make learning
interesting and playful and with Internet it can be made available on demand and
that too at an extremely low cost."
Educomp’s Mathguru is a first-of-its-kind programme for students in such a scenario
and provides assistance to students when they need it the most -- practising problems,
understanding the underlying key concepts and completing homework.
Mathguru represents a fundamental change in maths tutorial practice. It shifts the
learning process from a passive instructive experience to one that is explorative
and available on demand.
It is an innovative math-help programme for students from Class VI to XII following
the maths curriculum.
The programme will help students understand the fundamental concepts rather than
just providing solutions to the questions. Students can replay the solutions any
number of times and can select the specific question and check out the solution.
With the launch of Mathguru.com, mathematics teachers from top schools of the country
will now be available at the click of a mouse.
